Bory Tucholskie is one of the biggest forest areas not only in Poland but also in Europe. It stretches from Charzykowska and Tucholska Plain in the Wda basin and from central and upper Brda. The beauty of the region is indebted to the last Baltic glaciations. The predominant form of the area constitutes sandy outwash plains with pine trees. The landscape includes numerous lakes, river valleys and dunes. The landscape, enormous forest areas, a lot of flora and fauna species made Bory Tucholskie be included in the World Biosphere Reserves. Zabroski Landscape Park, Tucholski Landscape Park, Wdzydzki Landscape Park and Bory Tucholskie National Park form the core of the protective system. Bory Tucholskie National Park was created in 1996 and it covers the area of 4789,34 ha. The forests constitute 79% of the surface, while 11 % is covered with waters. The Park is surrounded by the protective zone of 10292 ha. The Park is located in the north-west part of Bory Tucholskie on Charzykowska Plain. It was entirely separated from Zabroski Landscape Park. Struga Siedmiu Jezior is the central part of the National Park. Struga Siedmiu Jezior includes seven ribbon lakes such as Ostrowite, Zielone, Jeleń, Bełczak, Główka, Płęsno, Skrzynka and Mielnica.
